Recruitment Within The Digital Media Market
The global downturn has resulted in a loss of confidence across all business sectors in the UK. This will obviously have a great impact on employment in this country.
Unfortunately we see stories daily in the media of job cuts, a thousand here, two hundred there, a small business collapsing completely beneath the weight of large debts and lack of orders.
So what are we to make of the current climate with reference to the digital world? Well from a direct client perspective it is unlikely to mean many additions to their digital marketing departments. Large corporates and SME’s are likely to have company-wide freezes, especially in light of other departments likely to be losing staff. Their spend on online advertising is unlikely to change too much though, certainly for the time being. Even through recessions businesses still need to market themselves to make sure that they get their fair share of what the public can afford to spend.
With this in mind I expect Digital Media Agencies to still get their cut. Although DM specialists and integrated services may suffer, those specializing in “New Media” will still be sought after as it still offers a cost effective way of advertising your brand, almost guaranteeing a return on investment.
It seems everyone is glued to their PC/Laptop these days, so it is imperative that agencies continue to provide innovative online marketing solutions and in the process keeping the wheels of the digital world in motion.
